About Us

Platter of compassion is a non-profit making NGO that serves as the national Food Bank in Kenya, with a plan to penetrate all the 47 counties over a period of five years. The organization is registered with the NGOs board under certificate No:218/051/16-169/1046.

The goal of Platter of Compassion is to alleviate hunger while at the same time empowering the target communities to generate incomes for self-sustainability through collecting, purchasing, growing, and packaging food for distribution through a network of service agencies and programs that serve our target population groups.

Mission

Reducing food wastage, alleviate hunger, enhance the sustainability of the vulnerable through sourcing and distribution of food to enhance self-sustaining income-generating activities.

Our Objectives

Establish a governance structure that enhances transparency, accountability, and credibility.
Establish networks of funding and other support to facilitate the operations of the food bank.
Collect sufficient data on the needs of vulnerable Kenyan communities.
Have a clear and elaborate system that helps track distribution throughout the supply chain.
Establish an effective sourcing storage and distribution network that guarantees food safety.
Lobby for the enactment of proper food safety legislation in addition to working towards tax incentives for donors.
